The Hellenic Society of Biomedical Technology (ELEVIT) aims at promoting technological applications in biomedical sciences and supports research, promotes Biomedical Education, and attempts to improve healthcare technology assessment and management.

The 9th Panhellenic Conference of Biomedical Technology, the yearly congress organised by ELEVIT, this year was held as a hybrid (physical & virtual) event, in the city of Thessaloniki, while it was for the first time combined and intertwined with the organisation of the Aristotle Medical Forum (AMF).

Worldwide, healthcare systems face novel challenges during the 2020-2021 Covid Pandemic, while the World Health Organization Health Emergencies Programme is urging countries to prepare for large-scale outbreaks and pandemics in the future as well. These challenges further pinpointed and intensified the need for innovation and improved efficacy of healthcare systems; challenges that are within the reach and goals of Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology as a whole.

The concept of RETENTION project was presented at the conference, and has triggered the interest of the audience and many fruitful discussions about the role of innovation and AI-enabled healthcare services, for the improvement of healthcare delivery especially in critical situations like the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
